It\’s no secret that pickup trucks are one of America\’s most-loved vehicles. In fact, up to 18% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. are pickup trucks. They\’re the working machines, the all-in-one family vehicle.

In recent years, pickup trucks have evolved to include modern tech. But many drivers take it upon themselves to modify their rides for fun.

3 Modding Mistakes To Avoid On Your Truck

While your truck is your truck and you can do with it what you will, it\’s important to think twice before making a permanent modification.

Once you make a modification, you can\’t take it back. And it can be expensive to change once it\’s been done.

That said, here are three modding mistakes to avoid on your daily-driven pickup truck:

  1. Big lifts. It\’s a child\’s dream (and some adults\’) to drive a monster truck. Unfortunately, your pickup truck isn\’t designed to drive with a majorly lifted suspension. Lifted suspensions can be dangerous when installed on an everyday truck. They\’re not good for on-road or off-road driving and can cause all kinds of stress to your truck. What\’s more, the higher your suspension the more horsepower you\’re drawing away from your truck.
  2. Huge off-road tires. Good tires are vital when it comes to off-roading. They help to provide the traction you need for better control. But when your tires are huge and resemble a toy truck\’s, you\’re risking some serious tire whine. Additionally, large aggressive tires don\’t tread well on the average road. They do even worse when it\’s wet. Unless you live in an icy climate with snow year-round, these tires are best left off your truck.
  3. Installing bed caps. In some cases, bed caps can be a great addition especially because they\’re a natural part of the pickup truck. But they can also be counter-productive. When you use a bed cap, you limit how much cargo your truck can carry. That said, stick to using pickup truck tie downs and truck bed anchors to keep your cargo secure. You can carry more without worrying about your supplies flying across the road.

Truck bed tie down anchors are what your truck needs to help keep cargo and supplies securely in place and off the road. To learn more about truck bed tie down anchors, stake pocket tie downs, and truck tie down straps for your vehicle, contact BullRing today for more information.
